More changes are coming to the popular entertainment corridor at Montford Drive, with 10 at Park Lanes open, and a new restaurant slated for the former 15 North Roadside Kitchen.
The grand opening for 10 at Park Lanes is set for Saturday, April 28. The renovated George Pappas Park Lanes, at 1700 Montford Drive, features a restaurant, three outdoor patios, and a 24-tap outdoor beer garden. In addition to the bowling lanes, 10 at Park Lanes has four cornhole boards and is planning to add bocce ball and ping pong tables.
The place also has 12 taps for dispensing North Carolina-made moonshine, and the bar has unusual drinks such as "Jalapeno and Bacon infused Moonshine with our house Bloody Mary mix."
"We rebuilt Park Lanes with an Americana feel that will take you back to the ‘60s when it was originally built," said Adam Williams, one of the four new owners. "We want to honor the building, the look and the architectural style."
Meanwhile, a short distance down Montford, Charlotte Restaurant Traffic is reporting that Xenia Hospitality Group will open a new restaurant in the former 15 North Roadside Kitchen space. Xenia owns local spots including Ilios Noche, Nolen Kitchen and Big View Diner.
No word yet on what the new restaurant will be like, but Xenia hopes to have it open by June 1.

I don't want you to report anything but grocery store news, Ely.....
Only richy 1%s would bowl there. I only like blue collar hard working bowling alleys and grocery stores. This place won't get a dime from me or my husband. All them fancy people wearing pink popped collar shirts and boat shoes will take this I reckon they once again take the backbone of the city us "real Americans." I bet the won't even serve high life. Papas would be rolling over in his grave if he saw this.
Thanks for investing in a family friendly place that adults can enjoy too! I've heard great things about it. I remember when it was dark and smelly. Thanks so much for bringing it back to life.
Becky, George Pappas isn't dead.
Hey Betsy, George Pappas is still alive. So is his mom, who still bowls there.
I love going to montford, this will be just another fun bar to hop to. Cant wait, thanks for the article on it!
Betsy - there are plenty of blue collar bowling alleys and grocery stores in the charlotte metro area...try Gastonia, Rock Hill, or Independence Blvd. Please stay away from Montford. Your parents probably said the same thing about the 'futuristic' Park Lanes when Pappas opened this in the 50's. And I like to wear TWO popped collar shirts - makes me feel more richy.
Betsy, hilarious. I am a little afraid that you could be serious but I don't think you are.
This is a really cool idea for revitalizing the lanes without actually changing their old school character. The extra amenities aren't going to bother anyone who's just there to bowl. I'll probably end up going just for the beer garden.
Sounds great, cant' wait to try it out. I understand they have great barbeque and an excellent wine list too.
Betsy, anything make you happy or are you just plain not nice?
From looking at the new menu it seems that the bowling alley has become yet another yuppie bastion of overpriced "bistro" food-- give me a good burger and those awesome onion rings any day-- that was the 60s feel--
I go to this place at lunch hours and it is great, the price, the people - NICE people. I am glad that you don't go Betsy because I definitely would NOT appreciate people like you hang out in this place.
We do lunch and bowl for $10.50, that includes lunch, drink, two games and shoes. Even if they raise the price, its still worth it with all the improvements they made. This is an awesome place, they have awesome people, and I am looking forward on the new restaurant and bar. Lets support our local businesses. Its good for our city. Be happy when they're moving forward.
Betsy, thanks for steering clear. You don't sound like someone I would like to bump in to while bowling. For the record, (I own several pink shirts but am far from 1%) popped collars do not go with the crowd you are attempting to discredit. Different crowd entirely, not to be found on Montford, either. Sheesh, get your sterotypes straight.
Hey Betsy, George would be very unhappy indeed if he had to roll over in a grave
Betsy, I really hope this is a parody post, but if not: Montford, or anywhere worth going in Charlotte for the that matter, isn't catering to the blue collar good ole boy "real amercians". Your kind are best suited to hang out at seedy pool halls in Monroe that serves Natural Lite on tap and gives you the chance to sing Toby Keith Karaoke every Tuesday night. This is of course after you get off work from you low skill, low paying job that you've been rotting in for 25 years because you eeked your way through high school and never got a decent education.
Yeah. Charlotte needed more places to play cornhole. What's with the overgrown frat culture in this town?
Rich 1%?? Oh thats funny, you are so out of touch with the Montford crowd and area its as if you've never been there. Thank goodness this out of date eyesore was updated. The days of chain smoking, cheap beer swilling bowling league patrons will not be missed. If all you can argue is you don't like the clothes or shoes people wear then by all means stay home and live it up in your wife beater and work boots. The rest of us will enjoy the new bowling alley just fine without you r type.
Overgrown frat culture is fun. People in Charlotte like to have fun and spend money (because they have it!). When you figure that out, go to Pappas lanes and tear it up! Until then, go to Gastonia and play horseshoes next to a bar that has a couple dogs chained to a doghouse. If you want to be "upscale" to escape the fun of Charlotte, move to Hilton Head and play golf and tennis with old rich people. Oh, wait, you need to actually be RICH to do that!
All you pink shirt wearin sissies, will eat this up. Real men don't wear pink or drink martinis. They wear camo for hunting not as a fashion statement. They don't listen to rap or rock. That said I'll be there to show your woman how a real man bowls!!
They better have local brews on draft, Charlotte brew.
I'm sure the AMF bowling alley on South Blvd near Woodlawn will accept all you 'real Americans'. Heck you can even go to Skyland across the street and have a 'real American' meat and three if you like. Just keep in mind you'll have to share with all the 'real latinos and real asians' that share the neighborhood out there. Charlotte is a global city now after all. personally, I can't wait to check out the new park lanes. Is it still 24 hours?
This city Is too richy-rich for my liking. It's pushing all the blue collar people to the outskirts like union county and York. You gotta be rich to live in charlotte nowadays. They'll wish they had us when IT hits the fan and no one knows how to hunt or fish, or worse change a tire.
Great another goth hangout for the teeny boppers. In my Day we just smoked pot in the attic for entertainment.
The new owners of Park Lanes have made a concious decision to change it from a bowling center with a thriving weekly league constituency to just another preppie hangout where drinking is the primary goal and bowling is just another amenity in the EpiCenter mold.
They demolished the bowling pit and made it far more difficult to maneuver around the ball return when setting up to roll. They moved the Pro Shop and bowling lockers to an inconvenient basement location that you have to leave the building to access, just to free up more drinkin' space. They showed an utter disregard for people that actually went there to bowl.
Many of their long-time patrons have defected to AMF South Boulevard Lanes which still, thank God, cater to actual league bowlers. This wasn't what George Pappas expected when he sold the Center to these people, but that's what happened. It's a real shame, as it looks like authentic bowling centers are going the way of drive-in movies.
A goth hangout for the teenie bopping 1% frat types? Man this thread has become the most hilarious mishmash of inaccurate stereotypes ever.
Those of us that don't cleanly fit any of your stereotypes but do enjoy bowling, beer, and decent food will keep enjoying this place, thank you.
I can't wait to play ping pong. Let's get your pong on!
Why does rock hill never get anything cool like this? It would do great here!!
Haters gonna hate
While it is nice that new busines's are thriving in CLT, some of you are proving Besty's point. Why does Gastonia, Rock Hill & Woodlawn have to the place that the dregs of society, congregate? These communities also have 1% and poor people. Just a thought!
So they are going after the 60's feel and look. If that were the case then they would do nothing and leave it the way it has been since it was built in the late 50's
Let's get drunk and pick up women in the bowling alley the way it is supposed to be.
