Outlet mall still seeking job applicants

Charlotte Premium Outlets, set to open July 31, is still seeking workers to fill jobs at its stores, mall officials said this week.

When complete, the mall's 100 stores are expected to employ about 900 people.

"Stores including Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th, The Body Shop, Fossil, Gap Outlet, and more are looking to fill a variety of open positions. If interested, job seekers should email charlotte@premiumoutlets.com for a full list of stores with openings and instructions on how to apply," wrote spokeswoman Chelsea McAnally.

The 400,000-square-foot mall, located in Steele Creek, just southwest of I-485, is the first outlet mall in Charlotte city limits. It's a joint venture of Tanger Factory Outlet Centers and Simon Property Group, owner of SouthPark and Concord Mills.

  1. It's not easy to take a job making minimum wage when gas almost $4 a gallon, we get taxed on groceries, and the state of NC won't expand healthcare coverage to people making retail wages.

  3. While I agree with Mike that getting a minimum wage job in this economy can be hard, most outlet mall shops will give discounts to their employees for that store. It could be nice to work part time as a second job, if they don't give you very many hours. I'm always a little sad to see neglected malls, so I hope that doesn't happen here. http://viejas.com/san-diegos-premier-outlet-mall
