Perry's at SouthPark is moving from its mall location into a new store across the street.
According a flier given to customers, Perry's new location will be in the Gold Building, which is across Morrison Boulevard from SouthPark mall.
The new store will feature appraisals and selling of gold jewelry and other estate pieces, as well as shopping. Perry's will be out of its SouthPark store soon, and the new store will open in February.
There's no word yet from the mall on what will replace Perry's. Thanks to my colleague June Lancaster for the heads up.

Not really news, since the Perry's "We're Moving" commercials are all over TV.

ReplyDeleteThis was obviously a move driven by Perry's success. They have simply outgrown the small space in the mall and the larger space across the street will given them the room to continue doing what they do best. if you aren't aware Perry's does business worldwide and the small space in the mall was a shame.
ReplyDeleteI wish Perry's continued success in their new location. Their staff has helped me through the years, and I can always find an interesting jewelry gift,especially antique, there - not found in very many other jewelry stores in Charlotte. Also they have been a tremendous supporter of the Rescue Mission and other non-profit groups that help the down and out. Thanks for giving back to the community. Best of luck and growth to you.
ReplyDeleteThey're a bunch of crooks, if you ask me. My wife inherited some very expensive jewelry from my late mother. We have independent appraisals on it all. Thought we'd try to sell some of it to help an uncle who was in need of a heart transplant. Figured we'd try Perry's since they advertise heavily that they buy estate jewelry. They offered between 6 and 8% of what those pieces were worth, far less than what an honest reseller would offer. They were essentially trying to rip us off. I can understand wanting to make a decent profit on a transaction, but draw the line at outright larceny. Couple that unpleasant experience with the most obnoxious television ads ever (he honestly makes used car salesmen look subdued), and the result is I'll never set foot in that store again.
ReplyDeleteYears ago, I took an antique railroad watch to Perry's for cleaning and repair. They charged me a ridiculously high price, but seeing as how it was a Christmas gift for my father, I paid it. The watch ran for two days, then stopped. I've never been back.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why they would move ridiculously close to Diamonds Direct and I think there's another jewelry store over there also. Guess the same reason why Walgreen's is across the street from CVS but it's never made sense to me. Diamonds Direct is head and shoulders above this place. Every time I've walked in there I've felt like I was walking back in time to some old lady's store.
ReplyDelete@freddy - You claim that Perry is a crook for offering your wife 6-8% less than fair market value for inherited jewelry? Can you comprehend that Perry has overhead, employees and expenses that must be covered in order to stay in business? People like you are completely ignorant of what it takes to run a business. I am sure Perry is glad to be rid of the likes of you. Selling off you mother's jewelry....classy.
