Jet's Pizza to expand in Charlotte

Charlotte is getting two new pizza stores, as Michigan-based Jet's Pizza plans to increase its presence in the region.

Jet's has two locations in the area now, one on Montford Drive and one in Huntersville. Both of them opened in 2010.

The chain's new locations are at 2712 West Mallard Creek Church Road in Charlotte and 920 Park Center Drive, in Matthews. Both new stores will open in December.

“North Carolina has been an excellent market for us,” said John Jetts, the chain's vice president of marketing, in a statement. “We’ve had an incredible response and we’re looking forward to further expansion in the state.”

Jet's signature dish is a deep-dish, square pizza. There are some 200 Jet's locations nationally, with sales of $163 million last year. The chain is also expanding in Raleigh and Cary.

  1. There are many locally owned pizzerias in CLT that are better than Jet's However, as far as chain pizza goes, Jet's is BY FAR the best pizza in town. It puts Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, Dominos, and any other chain pizza to shame. VERY GOOD pizza. As a matter of fact, I'd even take it over Fuel. Keep in mind, this is for their DEEP DISH ONLY. Their standard round pizza is fair at best. Portofinos makes a great pie too, but holy cow they put WAY TOO MUCH salt in it. You eat a few slices of Portofinos and you will wake up in the middle of the night DYING for water.

Oh yah... be sure to get the free turbo crust upgrade at Jets too.

  8. @ Anon @ 1:38

I'd eat a plate of dog feces before I'd eat Fuel Pizza.

Jet's sucks. One piece of that thick crust sits in your stomach for about a week. Nothing beats Lorenzo's.

  10. I have tried a bunch of different pizzerias in the mallard creek area and some of them are not bad. However there are no pizzerias that carry deep-dish pizza. I have heard a lot of good things from friends that live in Huntersville about Jet's pizza and am looking forward to trying it for myself when the mallard creek location opens.

  11. Just another great pizza joint coming from Michigan. That's right, you heard me.
The following pizza establishments originally from Michigan include:

    Domino's
    Little Caesar's
    Hungry Howie's
    Bellacino's
    Jet's

Now, Jet's Pizza is not inexpensive, but it is delicious...depending upon the crust you choose. I'm not crazy about thin crust pizza. I'm used to thicker crust or sicilian style pizza.

Little Caesar's here is not authentic because they use par baked crust...yuck!

Hungry Howie's is delicious...it's lousy reheated

Domino's keeps trying to remake itself

    Bellacino's is yummy...

    Yeah, Michiganders know pizza.
