The SouthPark area has a new cafeteria and frozen treat shop, owned and operated by prominent Charlottean Dee-Dee Harris.
The DQ Orange Julius shop is located at 6555 Morrison Boulevard, in a building that also houses a Bojangles', Donatos Pizza and a cafeteria. The complex is directly behind SouthPark mall.
Dee-Dee, her husband Cameron Harris and other Harris family members have had a hand in many of Charlotte's biggest real estate projects.
"I am thrilled to have the DQ Orange Julius store in Charlotte open and ready to serve our customers," said Dee-Dee Harris, in a statement. The store will serve frozen goodies, as well as hotdogs and sandwiches.
Great - can she fill in Gleneagles Lake now?
ReplyDeleteShe could fill in that monstrous hole with a Blizzard mix. There are enough fat cats to eat it out on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to Helen Schwab's review.
ReplyDeleteWhattttt? Why is this news? A DQ in food court type building? WOW! Thanks for the update. I had to click on this to see what the "story" was....still waiting.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to the Harris Family. Good for them. But come on...how is this worth a write up?
Failure and then the excuses. She will be out in less than 2 years.
ReplyDeletewhat? Cheap options in southpark? Gasp!
ReplyDeleteAte at the cafeteria earlier this week. Give it another month at best.
ReplyDeleteI thougth it opened back in June or July because we saw the sign and stopped for lunch. But they were still in training and were to open in 2 days.
ReplyDeleteApparently a very slow news day!
ReplyDeleteWhat ia a Orange Julius?

ReplyDeleteThe place has been open for a month- is this that slow of a news day??
ReplyDeleteorange julius sucks...they used to have one at eastland mall
ReplyDeleteeat the rich!!!
"What ia an Orange Julius?"......frankly nothing more than a glass full of orange juice and a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream blended together. Thats How I make them at home.
ReplyDeleteI guess she got tired of playing tiddlywinks at the beach!
ReplyDeleteThey kicked Orange Julius out of the mall years ago for wearing baggy pants that drooped revealing his underwear. Perfect match for "prominent" deedee and cammee
ReplyDeleteCafeteria won't last. Too expensive for a cafeteria.
ReplyDeleteFree add for Dee Dee???shame on you ELY
ReplyDeleteThe Harris family has a long history of business disasters. The sale of the family insurance firm to Wachovia right before the stock tanked. The Ritz Hole. Garden Secrets. And now this to join all of the other second rate restaurants in that building. We all know where this is headed.
ReplyDeleteThe DQ and cafeteria will flop, as are the Boj and pzza place there. Harris' have no ability to run restaurants. Overpriced and cheap/poor food!
ReplyDeleteWow - what a bunch of haters! Have you noticed every single comment is posted Anonymously? What a bunch of wusses. Great for you, Dee Dee! Keep 'em coming!
ReplyDeleteOK so now I guess the Observer will give free publicity to every new retail location opening throughout the mketro regardless of who opens one?
ReplyDeleteYUM!!! nothing can fill the hole in my stomach like an orange julius!!
ReplyDeleteNow maybe she can fill the hole in my backyard @ Gleneagles & Park!
You call this news??!!! No wonder the newspaper industry in going down the tubes.
ReplyDeleteWho cares about Dee Dee Cameron!
The place is great, the cafeteria has really good traditional southern food. This place works great for family because you have now four choices to eat: pizza, fried chicken, cafeteria and the best delicious ice cream from DQ. Also there smoothie are great.
ReplyDeleteFinnally DQ is back in Southpark and a cafeteria too, I can't wait to go there.
ReplyDeleteThe cafeteria is mediocre.
ReplyDeleteThe space is dark and drab.
But Dee Dee, what about the hole at Seven Weeds?
When will you fill it Dee Dee, when?
Ely, you must be bored to tears.
ReplyDeleteThis is what you dreamed about while you were in J school?
I give the Charlotte Observer two years. You call this journalism. No wonder the Big Media outlets are going under.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why everybody complained the place is nice nad friendly. We love to go there with my family and the new addition is great. We love the food at the cafeteria and my kids enjoy the ice cream treats after their meals.
