Elsewhere in the plaza, IHOP plans to open in the former Blockbuster space in the next three or four months, featuring, yes, pancakes, among plenty of other items, said Jay Couch, senior vice president for commercial properties with the center’s owner, Greensboro-based Bell Partners.
That leaves the 35,698-square-foot former Stein Mart space as the center’s only vacancy, Couch said. Bell Partners is currently negotiating with a national retailer for the space, and anticipates an announcement at the end of September. The shopping center, at the corner of Sharon Amity and Randolph roads, has 273,841 square feet of space.
Egg-cellent. Danny's Too will always be superior to the neighborhood though.
ReplyDeleteIHOP...you have got to be kidding. Not at "Cotswold Village". Maybe somwhere near Eastland but not so close to Eastover! What is next? A Gold Coral in the old Steinmart?
ReplyDeleteReally?!? Is this supposed to be good news or bad news...I'm a bit confused. The best fit they could find for that space is IHOP?!? That's the one thing Cotswold is missing is a variety of good restaurants. And adding IHOP certainly doesn't bring anything unique or dare I say classy to the area. Although I'm sure it will bring in revenue for the area, which is obviously an upside. Still, even though I live within walking distance of Cotswold Village, I'll be waving to IHOP as I pass by on my way to enjoy breakfast at Eddie's Place or the Original Pancake House.
ReplyDeleteIHOP, seriously? Danny's place a block away is so much better. I can't imagine IHOP doing well here.
ReplyDeleteA new updated Charley's sounds great though.
That former Stein Mart space would be perfect for H&M or The Container Store!
ReplyDeleteMake a quick stop for a second mortgage before heading to IHOP. Their prices have gone out of sight.

There's way too many restaurants in Cotswold Village. The property management is nuts. What's needed is more retail.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear that Charley's is coming back. We have missed our favorite neighborhood restautant. As far as IHOP...please, can we take a vote on this?
ReplyDeleteReally! IHOP is not a good fit! What happened to Cotswold being a shopping center...hence the word shopping. Not eating. It is overrun with restaurants! Not good.
ReplyDeleteVery excited about Charley's but not really seeing how they can recover from a closure and then a reopen. They need to spend a pretty penny advertising.
Sure there are a lot of restaurants in Cotswold, but no place that serves a simple vegetable plate that isn't swimming in grease. If IHOP will be serving nice veggies, then we'll be regular customers.
ReplyDeleteAnd I vote for H&M in the old Steinmart place too!
Love IHOP! I bet it will do well. The one in the University does well.
ReplyDeleteI second the H & M or Container Store thought. I also would rather see a Frank Scibelli creation, i.e. Mama Ricatta's, Big Daddy's Burger Bar, or Cantina 1511 in the Charley's spot. They are fantastic! He seems to manage his restuarants pretty well too.
ReplyDeleteCharley's?
ReplyDeleteNew decor, new menu, new owners, new staff. But it's the same old Charley's
Right.
PLEASE DON"T PUT AN IHOP AT COTSWOLDS!!! It doesn't fit. It's like putting a Walmart in this high end community.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Charley's reopen. But IHOP??? Really?? Yes there are a lot of restaurants in Cotswold, but aside from Charley's, they're all fast food. We need another full service eatery. As for IHOP...I'll be seein' ya at Eddie's Place. Hands down.
ReplyDeleteI heard that petsmart may be moving to steinmart's old space. not sure if it's true but I'm crossing my fingers. I'm sick of driving to south blvd for pet food.
ReplyDeleteI talked to one of the guys who used to be in the Cotswold council, and yes said yes to steinmart becoming petsmart.
ReplyDeleteOh IHOP, how I love thee! SO excited.
ReplyDeleteAt first,I was a bit opposed to IHop moving in. It does not seem to be attracting any strays from East CLT/independence area, which is good. I ate there last week and it looks neat on the out/inside and the service was...ok. Charley's, I thought was a bust the first go-around, I would have preferred an Outback or Home/country cooking place with veggies. Let hope a disgusting place like pet-smart doesn't move into the old steinmart. If so watch your step. Maybe a YMCA satellite branch or a macaroni grill? Haha, I love food so I'm ok with the mall being a culinary center. With South Park down the street, who needs a place to shop?
