It looks like there's a Starbucks headed to the Mint Museum building on the Levine Avenue of the Arts uptown, near South Church Street.
Building permits filed with Mecklenburg County show the project - listed as "Starbucks @ Duke Energy Center" - will cost $161,150. The company is paying to upfit 1,937 square feet of interior space at the location.
The store will be the sixth Starbucks location inside the uptown I-277 loop, and another boon for office workers who need an excuse to skip out of work on a nice afternoon for some fresh air.
So, fellow office denizens, what's your coffee place uptown? I like to drop by the uptown Amelie's branch with a cup - can't beat $1 refills for a late-afternoon caffeine boost.
(Hat tip to the Charlotte Business Journal for having this tidbit first)

wow....a starbucks. thats what makes 'charlotte, usa' such a unique place...
Starbucks - over priced dirty water. McDonalds and Dunkin Donunts better coffee for a lot lower price.
I like Amelie's Uptown as well. Small space though.
Starbucks-- the home of "burnt and bitter coffee" but look at all the people they have suckered into thinking that its good coffee-- they even have 10-12 year old kids asking their parents to take them to "Staryucks"
Not Just Coffee over at 7th Street Market is the hands down the best coffee in town
Give me hot tea anytime.
I love Amelie's, but you just made a lot of employees at Mint Museum Uptown happy.....
Sorry, but Dunkin Donuts is crap coffee. No kick. Just watered down coffee grains. McDonald's. Ok, I'll give you that. I'll still take Starbucks or a Peet's (can we get one of those please?) any day of the week though.
another vote for Not Just Coffee. Starbucks is great when traveling, but Not Just Coffee is hands-down the best coffee in town.
There's a Peet's at the Ritz
