Second local Pinkberry headed to the Arboretum

Looks like CLT is getting a bit more of the PB: Frozen yogurt chain Pinkberry plans to open its second area location in October at the Arboretum in south Charlotte, the company said today. The Los Angeles-based company is expanding in the southeast this year, and is slated to open its first Charlotte store next Friday, the 23rd, at Phillips Place. As my awesome colleague Helen Schwab has noted, that location will host a grand opening event the night before, July 22, from 6 to 10 p.m., with free frozen yogurt, music and giveaways.

Pinkberry's arrival will give Charlotte a bigger taste of the frozen yogurt trend sweeping the country, featuring tart flavors and an array of fresh fruit and candy toppings. I talked about that and more today with CEO Ron Graves, so look for our Q&A to appear sometime soon, in advance of the store's opening.

now that's a healthy choice...frozen yogurt with candy toppings. I guess people feel 1/2 as guilty then.

Only women would go to a place called pinkberry.

When I hear the name I thought it was a pink crackberry phone. Stay in LA.

Can Charlotte ever START a trend? A town with people blindsided by corporations with little local flair.

Just what Charlotte needs, more high calorie, low nutrition foods. On our way to #1 in obesity!!

Seems like a lot of pub for a franchise. How about some stories of home-grown retail businesses?

Regarding tasty Yo - they didn't start (or I shoould say revive) the frozen yogurt trend. It can be local, it can even be good, but that doesn't make it original (take Salsarita's for exapmple - it started here, but is far from original).

I can hardly wait until we have frozen yogart on every corner. What an incredibly genius concept. That's even more creative than opening a wine shop!!

I completely agree with what jerry said. How about stories about our own local, homegrown businesses. I am sure they would appreciate the free advertisement. Glad companies are coming to CLT, but let's help our own first!

Once again North Charlotte/Huntersville area has been overlooked.
